The
Center for Contemporary Printmaking (CCP) is a non-profit
organization dedicated to the art of the print: intaglio,
lithography, monotype, silkscreen, woodblock printing,
paper works, book arts, and digital arts. CCP is a unique
cultural resource, a place to discover, to experiment,
to learn. The entire spectrum of printmaking arts is here
to be explored through workshops, edition printing with
master printers, exhibitions, community programs, and
an Artist-in-Residence Program.
In a rare dual exhibition entitled "Emily Mason &
Wolf Kahn: Color Monoprints & Monotypes" the
Center for Contemporary Printmaking (CCP) surveys recent
prints by two internationally known artists. Although
Emily Mason and Wolf Kahn have been married for 56 years,
this is the first time their fine art prints have been
shown together. The exhibition presents an intriguing
visual dialog of artistic contrasts and complements. Wolf
Kahn's landscapes with open skies, a road leading to a
distant horizon, or his signature rural American barn,
contrast sharply with Emily Mason's free-form, painterly
images of layered and overlapping pools of color. For
both artists, color is central to their work. Their images
often share a similar palette, infused with brilliant
yellows, volcanic reds, saturated violets, oranges, and
greens. (CCP Press Release)
